Blog Post #6 - Silent Questions

1. One time when I was about six and me and my mom were walking my dog to go pick up my brother at school. We saw him and called him over to go home. I then made the worst decision in my life, asking my mom to hold the leash. So we were walking and every thing was fine until my dog spotted a cat. After a few seconds of her starring at the cat, she took off! My mom told me to let go of the leash but I didn’t want to lose her. She dragged my for at least thirty seconds and then I finally let go.
3. I live in a cul-de-sac so it isn’t too loud. We just have a couple of neighbors and there are five houses. All the houses have two strories. Most of the people are nice but some are kind of crazy and we all get along well. Growing up in this neighborhood would be good for all kids because there are other kids and people are very nice.
4. My personal differences make alot of friction between other guys. Guys make fun of other people and when they do I call them on it to not do it anymore. Guys and I sometimes get along but not always. I don’t usaully cause friction but sometimes I do.

Text Messaging… Does it help or hinder student writing?

My thoughts on text messaging is that it is ok when your on a long bus ride to somewhere and it is something to do instead of just sittig there doing nothing. It is dumb when kids just sit in class and text the whole time.I don’t have texting so I don’t text and most people a day usually text at least a hundred. I think that it doesn’t help your writing skills because you start to use slang language like “idk” instead of I don’t know. the only part that text messaging has in school is during lunch or breaks to talk to people or find them.

Blog Post #5 - Memoir

Have you ever lost someone who you loved? Well, I’ve lost someone who I loved. My great-grandma on my dads’ families side passed away 4 years ago. If I could only see her one more time I would spend more time I would spend more time with her.

My great-grandma was not only a family member to me but a friend. Every Sunday my brother, dad, and I would go over to her apartment and watch sports. Her favorite things to watch were golf and horse racing. Wheen we would watch sports she would always have some kind of snacks for us to eat like Baby Ruth’s and cookies.

When she moved to a new nursery home she lived right by us. She moved because the doctors said that she would live no longer than 2 months, but she lived one year longer. I remember that everyday after school I would go see her.

I remember the last night she lived and I was there and very sad. The hardest part was throwing her ashes in the ocean. I remeber all the good times I had with her and I’ll never forget those moments.

Blog Post #3 - Independent Reading - New Understandings

For independent reading at the beginning of class I have changed my book to The Hardy Boys books. The book is called The Secret of Skull Mountain written by Franklin Dixon. I feel like this book is about is about being brave and having some courage. In the book on page 13 they see a man and one guy says “Lets go and see who that is.” but the other Hardy says “I think we should just go back to camp”. This book is also about finding mysteries.

Blog Post # 2 - Blogs? What’s a Blog?

A blog is a something you put on the Internet that everyone can read. I’ve heard of blogs on myspace and all those chat places on the Internet. There are places where you write a blog to someone on those websites. When I get on a computer I’m very comfortable using it and knowing where to go and how to use it. I usually type paper on my computer and talk to people on it. Sometimes I like to play some games. My opinion on writing is that writing on paper is kind of fun, but typing it up on the computer is more fun. My favorite kind of writing is telling stories about the events that happened in my life. When kids use the Internet people are worried that they’ll do inappropriate things on the Internet or talk to strange people on the myspace. Some websites on the Internet are dangerous, but some sites can help kids learn. Most of my friends talk on myspace or play games on the Internet. Some kids use the Internet to do their homework. I feel like using the blog on the Internet can let me speak out more.

Blog Post #1 - Independent Reading - Book Selection

The book I’m reading is called Executive Orders and Tom Clancy wrote the book. No one recommend the book for me I just thought that the book would be interesting. I’ve heard Tom200px-executiveorders.jpg200px-executiveorders.jpg200px-executiveorders.jpgClancy is a good author. Before I started to read the book I read the inside cover. I was really interested in the plot of the story. When I started the book something happened right away. It wasn’t like the other books were it takes 50 pages for it to get interesting. I heard that Tom Clancy has a different writing style than other authors. I wanted to try and switch different writing styles up.
